About
Pacific Life

Industry:
Pacific Life provides a wide range of life insurance products, annuities, mutual funds, pension plans and offer investment products and services to individuals and businesses. The files they handle are often very large and complex legal PDF documents.

Insurer Pacific Life has successfully used EzeScan capture technology to improve user adoption of a newly deployed OpenText Content Management system. Here’s how they did it..

Challenge:
The company recently changed their content management system to OpenText and in doing so have struggled with user adoption. They needed a more streamlined way of uploading, attaching, renaming and making documents OCR compliant.
Solution:
Pacific Life implemented an EzeScan capture solution which takes a file from a shared location and registers it directly into OpenText all with minimal user intervention. The EzeScan File Upload WebApp enables users to simply click on a link, upload a document, select metadata with cascading categories and attributes and then send it on for approval, all via a URL link. Once approved and filed accordingly, EzeScan automatically takes the index file and sends it into the correct OpenText department folder.
Results:
With the implementation of Ezescan, there has been significant improvements in user adoption of the new OpenText system. Previously the queue of documents would have taken multiple days to handle. It now takes less than 2 hours, a huge saving both in time and resources. The retrieval of documents has also improved dramatically with naming conventions now being standardised.
“Implementing the EzeScan solution was very simple. Once you understand the terms it is very easy for any user without technical experience to build the jobs. Once it’s set up and integrated into the content management system it is very easy for end users to build their own solutions”. - Jessica Nilsen, Senior Business Analyst, ECM at Pacific Life
